A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.

What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it

The being of a future moment of thought will live, but has not lived, nor does it live,
The being of the present moment of thought does live, but has not lived, nor will it live

Everything is form and not form (manifest and unmanifest)- form is only half of reality- don't get lost in form
All words and teachings are just tools- tools to use to get to deeper understanding- read the words, but understand beyond language- do not get hung up on or attached to words and teachings
As unnecessary as a well is to a village on the banks of a river, so unnecessary are all the scriptures to someone who has seen the truth; when your understanding has passed beyond the thicket of delusions, there is nothing you need to learn from even the most sacred scripture; indifferent to scriptures, your mind stands by itself, unmoving, absorbed in deep meditation
At the highest stages of the path, one no longer has any preference for chaos or calm, samsara or nirvana; everything is experienced evenly; pleasant experiences are not cultivated and unpleasant ones are not shunned
